Week08 The second sprint is over!


Hello there,

This week was our final sprint week. This means that we'll be going into the polishing phase!

Gameplay

The programmers implemented the final mechanics and features. They completed the start and end screen, created a cooldown for the grapple and finished the HUD. They also changed the damage system. Now, if you hit another box with your box, that box will deal damage too! After some useful feedback, we reconsidered our self-damage. We decided to remove it, now if you throw a box and hit yourself, you won't take damage anymore. But, if you hit another box and that box hits you, you'll still take damage. We feel like this damage system fits the game perfectly. The programmers also coded the visualization for the invincibility timer and did some general bug fixes.


Art

The artists were busy creating the final HUD elements and changing up some of our existing ones. Each cooldown bar has a fitting image which displays what type of cooldown it is and the border and cooldown bars now have a fitting colour that matches the player. 


They also created some extra background assets to fill up the level. 



We also gave outlines to the shader, to match our artstyle and to make some things stand out more.


What's next?

Next up is the polishing phase. For the programmers this means bug fixing, implementing the animations and particle effects. The artists will focus on filling up the background and making everything look clean.
